Isn't it rather a WWII beauty? What you show is of course is a WWI cloth iron cross, but I'd say that such beauties started to be made at the time when WWI veterans had their breasts full of the old (WWI) and new (WWII) awards and started to look for ways to wear lighter jackets.
Am I right? Are there other theories??? I don't know of a WWI period picture with such a cloth iron cross. Of course, I might be wrong...
