    1914 Ek1

I am the process of purchasing this vaulted EK1. From the photos, what do you think of this one?

Here is the back of it. I whited out what was on the sticker on the back.

I don't like the bubbles in the paint. Not that it's a bad cross, but under the bubbles is rust that's going to keep spreading. The core was stamped from a pretty worn die, too. There are much better 900's out there to be had.

Tom is right, save your money for a better piece. "Worn die" is an understatement and that rust is a serious problem. Since its under paint, it will continue to spread and you won't be able to do anything about it.

          Has the core been repainted?

Not necessarily, it could have been a crappy paint job to begin with.

I agree. The cross is genuine, but if you can't get it for a really good price, stay away.

I like it. If you're building a collection of different types, I think this would be a nice addition. The pin is very well done and it has nice age to it. TThe paint looks ok to me--it's probably been stored or worn in a damp location. Minty crosses are nice, but a little age never hurts. It has the "been there" look. The die is worn, yes, but it's still a decent cross. (No, I'm not the one selling it). Just my opinion and taste. Hope you can get it for less than $125 or so.
