    Look what I found!

My esteemed colleague, Herr Lundström, tells me he has seen a total of six (6) Non-Combattant Iron Cross documents... A little digging around and here's an interesting one, which I have purchased from Herr Weitze! Preliminary award document, dated 1920! EK2 on the 'white and black" ribbon...

So, Kaufmann Fritz Borchardt in Berlin, huh?

I find a Kaufmann Friedrich Wilhelm Borchardt in Berlin.

Will have to see what reverse "ausgehändigt" info there is.

        Borchardts in Berlin

According to the 1941 telephone directory for Berlin, there were at least two Friedrich Borchardts still living there, one of whom was listed as a Kaufmann:

        Kaufmann Friedrich Borchardt, living at
        Wildensteiner Str. 43
        Berlin Karlshorst
        (phone number 50 27 43)

        and

Friedrich Wilhelm Paul Borchardt, living at
        Neue Schönhauser Str. 7
        Berlin C 2
        (phone number 41 51 67)

Further entries that might be associated with a Kaufmann Friedrich Borchardt include:

        Papier Grosshandlung Friedrich Wilhelm Borchardt
        Skalitzer Str. 100
        Berlin SO 36
        (phone number 68 49 98)

        F. W. Borchardt
        Weinstuben, Weinhandlung und Stadtküche
        Französische Str. 48
        Berlin W 8
        (phone number 11 51 49)

The Borchardt entries cover 2 1/2 columns of a five-column page, but I am sure many of the numbers are no longer connected

Perhaps this info will help find the right Herr Borchardt.

        All the best,

        David

Heh hey, another pack rat like me! I have "Augsburg and environs" for 1941: stamped that it was to be destroyed when the next issue came out!

Lucky for us people were naughty and SAVED things... sometimes!
