    Value question, please help!

    Dear All,

What is the chance finding an attributed and most importantly period awarded Honor Goblet with at least some period documentation?

What is the value of a period awarded Goblet in the US?

    Thanks in advance,
    Al

Unlike the WW2 ones, the WW1 Ehrenpokals are not named, so it would have to have the bestowal document.

I can't remember the last one I ever saw on sale, let alone as a set with the document.

      Dear Rick,

Yes, they are not named; unless engraved by or for the recipient. I know one that is for sale. It does not have the award document, but letters and other paper items from the family.

I also know another one that sold last year, also without the bestowal document but, again, with enough period paper items to be sure of the recepient.

      Both were family purchased.

I can have the one that is currently for sale. However, as I do not have the money I would have to severely purge my Wehrmacht collection. But before I do that I would like to check if they are easier and cheaper on the US market.

Well, since you say you haven't even seen one for sale lately... I guess I am on my own. Unless somebody had more luck encountering them; w/ or w/o papers. Any recent price guide appreciated.

      Best regards,

      Al

The only one I've seen in the last year or so was a naval one, which, of course, is a whole different kettle of fish.

Given the constant trade in this stuff back and forth across the Atlantic, the Internet, and big auction houses I don't think you're more likely to find what you want one place or the other. However, there tends to be more active interest in imperial items in Europe, so maybe, just maybe, the price might be lower if you found the item in the U.S.
