    Panzer Badge

I have not been able to gain much knowledge on the forum with regard to the Panzerbadge. Seems like the more detail, the more people think they are originals and there are some obvious fakes out there. Well, please take a look at this one and tender an opinion if you have one. The pin is marked 800 and the hinge mechanism is a little unusual as it has a stop mechanism to it. You will see what I mean. Thanks, Richard

Haven't heard a word on this thread. I will say the last ("fake") panzer badge posted (about 10 or 15 back) before this looks like it was cast from this pattern. Anyone got any ideas on this one or is it a matter of just not much out there to decide one way or the other? Believable but not sure? Fake? Don't know? Who knows? As they say on the estand - btt

Not a chance IMO. Having seen a few (very) originals in the past I can say this is not one of them.

Do not want to give much away as fakers are always keen to learn how to fix their fakes.

PM me and I will tell you what I know.

Just a quick reminder slightly less than 100 of these badges were ever issued so it is a very rare item and the chances of acquiring one is very low indeed.

Thanks for the reply. This badge is very confusing at best. I am not sure any were ever truly "issued". I am open to anything I can learn although I certainly am not driven towards finding a original of this badge. These badges seem to be in the twilight zone. Will give you a PM. I am working on getting some older information from the German Ordinance Society. RDF

Juncker may have been involved with the initial 100 or so conferred examples, but other manufacturers also are understood to have made the Kampfwagonabz in the 1920s and 30s. Also don't forget, at least 2 very distinct types of the badge (skulls) are known from period photos - that would be very hard to explain if there was only one "accepted" type of this badge!

This particular example is imo not associated with Juncker but detail appears good and the hardware is acceptable so I think there is a reasonable chance that this one may be pre-45. no-one will never know for sure though.

Evaluate the item, not the story and not the seller's reputation!

If you PM/contact me without the courtesy of using your first name, please don't be offended if I politely ignore you!

Personally, I like the tank badge shown above.

It looks good enough..................and simple enough in construction..............to be pre-'45. It reminds me of the silvered stamped steel issue-pattern Imperial pilot badges (photo below).

Only thing............it's stamped '800' but looks plated??? Could just be the lighting though.

                        For comparison. Same simple style.

I could find no other markings on or around the pin or hinge. No parts of the badge are magnetic. The surface of the badge appears to have a finish or wash on it. I may have a photograph coming in showing this badge in wear. I will post if it comes to be.
