Was the pin on this railroad badge blunted?

Hi,

I just came in possession of a railroad badge in a grouping of TR items. I've seen pics of these badges before, but those I've seen all have sharp ends on the pin. This one has a blunt end, but if it was cut they did a nice job as I can't see a burr and the end is square to the shaft of the needle. Opinions? If it was cut, what would it be worth?

Your observation is correct in that it appears that the pin has been cut and reduced in length by some 4mm's. I doubt that it will significantly affect its value as badges of this type are in the range of $85 to $125 depending on condition and whose selling them!
