    Cased 1870 EK2 Prinzen

Here is a cased 1870 jubilee EK2. It measures 34.7 mm in width. It comes with a long ribbon (11 cm per side) that has been folded inside and stitched at the end.

Detail of cross. The beading looks good to me as well as the paint but not as much detail as one would expect?

Unfortunately the cross does not fit the compartment of the case. Seems to be happening with some of the medals I acquired from this collection. What the heck is the case for? Is the prinzen good? Thanks for looking. Richard

As far as what the case is for I should mention it looks like a cross. The circular compartment is darkened at the 45 degree angles. The diameter of the cicular compartment is about 37mm and the ribbon width would have been 25.6mm or less.

I like this one the frame has well defined beading. The core detail
is like that found on a lot of Jubilee period 1870s. It appears to be
blackened not painted. The style of date looks good.

That is good news! Although this collection is a little mixed up, everything seems to be original thus far. I am curious how the full size EK2's fare. Thank you for your comments.
