    Is this medal bar taceable?

    Hello all

With so many campaign bars is the owner traceable? The bar looks pretty good to me considering the age.

    Reverse:

This is not my bar, found it here:

Thought everyone here would find it interesting, tad overpriced for my budget unfortunately.

The Langensalza should have a name on the rim.

Tom's right, it should. I know the seller, Ian, he is a very pleasant guy, e-mail him, he will be more than happy to answer any questions.

I checked with the seller and the rim is marked "F.LUCKE II". That and the bars should give you a fighting chance.

On my tattered old listing of 1870 bars by Corps and Cavalry Divisions, the only match with these 6 bars is under XIIIth Army Corps, with notation "17th Infantry Division" for the Paris bar.

I have no information on tables of organization then to know if 17 ID was attached to XIII Corps or was just tucked in there as a specific division that had these 6 bars.

              XIII Corps

The XIII Corps during the Franco-German war was only in existence from 12 September 1870 until 31 January 1871 and was commanded by General der Infanterie Großherzog Friedrich Franz von Mecklenburg-Schwerin. Its constituent infantry divisions were the 17. Infanterie-Division and the 2. Landwehr-Division.

              Regards
              Glenn

                Interesting piece of history!

A Hannover Enlisted or Junior NCO fought AGAINST the Prussians in 1866, after the annexion of Hannover he continued in PRUSSIAN forces to fight agains France on 1870/71.

                Best regards

not only the kingdom of hannover soldiers experienced this but also those of the kingdoms of Bayern, Württemberg, and Sachsen, the Grand duchies of Baden and Hessen-Darmstadt, Kuhessen, Hessen-Nassau and several other small countries on the side of Austria in the German War 1866...and all because of bloody Schleswig-Holstein- blöde fischköppe

At the battles of Loigny-Poupry, Orleans and Beaugency-Cravant in December 1870, Grand Duke Friedrich Franz of Mecklenburg-Schwerin commanded more than the XIII Corps. He commanded an ad hoc "Armee-Abteilung" that included a number of other units, including thg Bavarian I Corps. By early January, the forces had been reorganized for the drive on Le Mans. XIII Corps was then under Prince Friedrich Karl von Preußen's 2nd Army.

Isn't there a medal roll for the Laganzala medals? (Autengruber?)
The Hanovarian army of 1866 was rather small and the records I thought were relativly untouched.
                      Anybody know?
