    Cased 1914 EK2 Prinzen

This cross is 35 mm in width and height. The ribbon is about 26.5 mm in width. I feel pretty good about this one but would appreciate your thoughts. Much appreciated, Richard.

                Richard,

I like the cross and the ribbon. You have a nice unmessed with example of a 1914 prinzen IMO. I particularly like seeing the fine beading on the sweat band of the obverse crown.

The case is nice also but I think it was not original to the cross but an addition from a different time and place. My reasoning for this is that the recess in the case looks to be for a table medal instead of a cross. The Ek seems to have been there a while but the corners of the cross do not completely fit into the recess. Also the lid of the case looks to have an aplicay of leatherette, perhaps covering an inprint of what the case was for originally.

                Just some thoughts. Nice cross.

                Tony

I would tend to agree with Tony. Nice cross though!!

I agree and I think you have the twin to this one.

                        hi Richard,
That is a very nice prinzen EK2.
It is great to see an authentic prinzen being posted for a change
instead of the typical stepped core fakes that are found on ebay.

Thanks for the insights. I am glad te cross came out well. I have one other prinzen to show you if I get photop's taken today. I see what you mean on the case and I have taken a close look at the material on the top. The four corners of the applied material are cut at an angle and indeed look like it was applied over an original case. A case for what? We can only guess.

                            I was thinking?
Should I leave well enough alone with that case or try to see what is underneath that application? The only reason they would put it on is to cover something over I would think. If I don't destroy it in the process, maybe the case is something special - who knows.

Nice cross by the way - brothers in arms.

It looks alot like an EK1 case, especially the closure system. Has it been modified to fit, as was suggested before, a table medal?
