Lucky or dumb????

Once again, at first glance--not all that interesting photo--but look closer--there are 5 projectiles sitting next to these men. One has what looks like to bullet holes in it. But what I really liked in this pictre were the hob-nailed boots on the two at the bottom of the photo--I know--no biggie--but upon second look at great, trench related photo. Mike

And the copper bands on the grenades are missing. Maybe they made letter openers from them or other trench art?!?

Probably so-called "Ausbläser" which were kept as souvenirs and the copper bands were removed to sell as scrap or to make souvenirs from them?
