    Medals from 1870!

    Hey guys,

A good lady friend of mine went back to Germany a month ago and found that her mum was going to sell her [Mum] Grandfather's medals.

I have no idea what these are save for the Kaiser medal - I think its a centenary medal for Wilhelm I?

Can you please let me know what they are and an idea of worth? She's offering to me first up and I want to give her a fair price. I am a third reich collector normally and know NOTHING about imperial.

      Great find-
The medals are actually from @ 1900, as the campaign bars were issued @ 25 years after the events.
      the medals are:
      1. Imperial campaign medal for france (Strasboug bar-unusual)
      2. Baden campaign medal for Franco-Prussian war
3.centennial medal (given to all living vets)
      4. A super nice pre 1913 long service baden schanalle and a vets association pin.
      A fair price-for that bar-AT LEAST $350

Thanks for that McCulloh, I must admit the price surprises me, (ie when compared to a grouping of 1939/45 medals and the price they would fetch) so these medals are not that rare then?

Campaign and long service medals are fairly common. If he had a bravery award it would be alot higher. Still it is a nice looking bar that any collector would be proud to own. Do you have any more info on the recipiant?

Not at the moment, I'll be meeting her this week though so I'll ask her then.
