    ribbon bar on SS

this SS guy has one long ribbon bar and I'm hoping this is the right place to identify some of these awards on the bar.

    thank you in advance.

    SA or SS?

That is some ribbon bar. i know somebody who would like it very much.An amazing career officer from WW1. probably a Btn. or Reserve Regimantal commander:

From off the top of my head-
    1. EK2
    2. HHOx
    3. Saxon Albert Knight?
    4. Zahr. Lion with Oaks (Hptmn+)
    5. ?
    6. ?
    7.HKx-maybe Hohenzollern war medal (doubtful)
    8.LS medal ...or?
    9. Cntl. medal???? or LS ?
    10. Austrian officers' Military merit Cross with wreath (?)
    11. Something Bulgarian ?
    12. Austrian WW1 Commem.
    13. Hungarian WW1 Commem.
    14. Bulgarian Ww1 Commem. (?)
I urge you to look at the ribbon bar article. here:

      thx

thank you for the information and the reference to the article.

He is definitely SS. I have 2 other photos. And in 1, he's wearing his SS visor.

I'm surprised he didn't split it in two and wear one half on top of the other?

BTW, could that partially seen badge be a WW1 wound badge? just a guess.

For your info, that is not an SS uniform. It is however, a very nice medal bar.

        Cheers,

              left collar

I hope this helps. I took the right collar, and turned it 90 degrees CCW. Looks like it says 'West'...

First photo looks like an NSKK uniform - rank equivalent to a junior lieutenant. By the looks of the other photos, he did well and at some point transfered to the SS. Neat group of pictures.

Just a remark regarding his Wound Badge: interesting to see that in the first photo he wears what appears to be a silver or golden WB in the "durchbrochene" (cut) form, but in the photos with the uniform of the SS, his WB is the standard full version. Just interesting to see proof that some people purchased several copies of their awards.

                    Regards
                    Thorsten

                      more

could we see a blow up of the SS ribbon bar please? The color contrast may be better off of one of those pictures.

                        more

I think it's worse but here it is any way.

In the photo below the original is on top and then is the 2 from the other photos.

#3 appears to be a Württemberg Friedrich Order Knight 2nd or 1st Class with Swords. Hard to tell, but #4 might indeed have oaks. To me, #5 and #6 look like they might be a Hesse General Honor Decoration "For Bravery" and a Hamburg Hanseatic Cross. #7 is a FKE ("Hindenburg Cross). #8 is likely a pre-WW1 Prussian Crown Order 4th Class. #9 is probably long service.

#10 is an Austrian Military Merit Cross with War Decoration. #11 is likely the Bulgarian Military Merit Order; the Military Order "For Bravery" wouldn't have that crown device.

Well, he should be easy to identify. Going through the 1936 list I only see seven candidates at that rank. he'd be easy to spot with a quick cross index into the 1914 ranklist.

WOW that is excellent. Thanks McCulloh.

I'm very encouraged. I've think I'll pick up a Dienstaltersliste however, I'm not sure about the 1914 rank list. Where can I pick up something like that??
