    Imperial research question

I have been trying to confirm a reserve officer whos name is on a 1914 EK1 I have. He is not listed in the 1914 Prussian Army Ranklist or any post WW1 Ranklists. He must have been commissioned during the war. The problem is that the wartime ranklists list only regular/active officers. Am I correct in this? If so, Is there any books that lists wartime reserve officers? He was with a Prussian regiment so Bavarian, Wurttemberg and Sachen wartime books will not help. Any suggestions?

If he was an officer, there's a big chance you can find something in the regimental history...

      yes

Jan, That is my thought also. He was with Ul Rgt. Nr. 15. I have been looking for a regimental history.

There won't be one. Cavalry units, like foot artillery, were routinely split into individual companies and assigned higgledy-piggeldy alllll over the place... and recombined into composite groups out of many different units.

You're lucky, Ulanen-Regiment 15 was not used as divisional cavalry and belonged to the 7. Kavallerie-Division until 1917, then this division was transformed into the 7. Kavallerie-Schützen-Division. Ulanen-Regiment 15 was transformed into an Infantry Battalion at this time (keeping its name).

              Paul,

I would perhaps be interested to buy the book and could see if there's anything interesting for you...
Could you mail me with the details?
