German made Turkish Iron Halfmoon "Gallipolli star"

    Hi all,

I bought this nice Turkish Iron Halfmoon Star made by the german company "B.B.& Co."

Does anyone of you know when was it made? During WWI, or it´s a 1920´s example?

    Thanks in advance,
    Adolph.

That's a nice, typical period example.

BB&B, Phila. is Bailey, Banks & Biddle. I don't think they are the same company.

This example is quite nice as it looks to have undamaged enamel and all it's silver plating intact. Sweet!

I suspect very strongly that "BB&Co" is a German company or may be Austrian.

I have got more that one of these awards by this maker from the families of returned WW1 New Zealand servicemen who served in Palestine and the Middle East 1917 & 1918. This is the most comman maker of this award that I have encountered so far and the only maker I have got directly from a vet source.

Hope this is of help, Chris

                Thanks everyone.

Chris, you´re right about the company. It´s german.

I found great information about this piece and many other turkish awards in a Forum Member website www.turkishmedals.net/
"...manufactured by a company that used the mark "BB&Co.", an unknown maker reputedly located in Berlin. "

Thanks to Tim Tezer, for his information and great webpage.

                Best regards,
                Adolph.
