    Bavarian Golden Bravery Medal !!!

I had the luck to get a bronze gilt "Spangenstück" of this rare medal. It was awarded 1198 times and the recipient had to "try to win the war alone"! It wasn't a "gift" like the most EKs.

The front has a little discoloration were, as I suspect, another medal rubbed it (maybe an EKII) while it was hanging on a big medal-bar.

      Jens,

How much is a "Spangenstück" worth compared to a real issued one... I know that the real ones can fetch up to Eur 3'000.- (the 1914-18). What is the real difference between the ones with "Stempelschneider" (name of the maker) and the ones without? Which one are the rarest? Not to speak of the 1870 pieces which have to be really rare...

      Ciao,

      Claudio

The awarded medals were in gilt silver and had the Srempelschneider "J. Riess" on the front. And they had the long and thick loop and not a soldered "standard" loop for the big ribbon ring.

It is very difficult to say which medal, awarded or Spangenstück, is more rare. You have only award numbers for the official "awarded type". I PM you about the price.
