    The results from todays fleamarket

    Photosammler proudly presents:

Quite a good day, very happy about the portrait of the SS-Untersturmführer.

But now there are some very nice 1st WW photos too.

What is that arm-badge the soldier on the right is wearing ?

Next one is a nice shot from a signals post:

There was also a german air-plane amongst the photos today:

That one is very nice too:

He was from the Helgoland-company of the sea-battallion, see stamp on reverse side:

Last but not least one of those cute little huns again:

He smokes his pipe, drinks the bear out of the huge Stein next to him and sure eats french soldiers for supper.

All together I got about 40 photos today, got another 30 yesterday, not to forget an album with 100 photos last week, all from fleamarkets, all for not too much money. I love bavarian fleamarkets.

    Kind regards
    Robert

That's the sleeve insignia for Fliegerabteilung 43 up top...

I went out in the pouring rain to our MONTHLY show at the other end of the state and came home with only FOUR photos, all Third Reich.

More specifically, Festungs-Flieger-abteilungen. They were the only ones to use the single gothic F on the sleeve oval. Tony

First of all, thanks for the informations.

Now for the Festungs-Flieger Abteilung. I think that it is 45, not 43, does that make a difference ?
What was a Festungs-Flieger Abteilung ? Never heard that before.

And to majorpayne - that was on the monthly fleamarket at Keferloh, really close to Munich. It is always on the first sunday of the month, only in summer.
It is a real antique market (open air), there are almost only dealers, but many of them sell porcellain, furniture and all kind of antique stuff (really nice to look at). Some of them really don't care about Militaria and one can find some good stuff hidden between their other goodies.
I didn't pay much for all those photos above, just for example the SS-portrait was 8 Euro. Look at Ebay and You know what they are going for.
Since You are located in Hessen, it is a far way, but maybe worth to combine it with a visit of Munich.

On last sunday I have seen other nice items there, some very nice medals, a good medal bar, at least one army dagger, a few swords and a beautiful Pickelhaube, all priced accordingly, but I think compared to US-market value still at bargain prices.
The fleamarket is located next to a big bavarian restaurant with a nice Beergarden, they play life-music and after having found some good stuff, you can sit there and drink Your beer, eat a Schweinshaxe and listen to bavarian folk-music. (No, I don't get paid by the organizers)
This fleamarket is a must for collectors of all kind, but for some unknown reason last sunday most of the Militaria-collectors were absent.
If You plan to come to it, write my a mail, we can go together ( I only buy the photos , You can have all the other things) The next one is on 6th july.

                  Kind regards
                  Robert

I drive one hour each way in pouring rain like driving in a blizzard to stay outside and not even anyplace to go to the bathroom (this is increasingly important the older you get, guys! )

                          Pfaffenhofen

Mike, I was in Pfaffenhofen every month in those years shortly after the reunion of germany. Lots of east-germans were there, offering their goods (and bads).
Now I haven't been there for some years, would like to go once again to see how it is. People tell me that lots of collectors are there and sellers know their prices.
Most time I prefer those markets which are not as much spoken around, smaller fleamarkets outside of the big towns. It is a bit harder to get more things, but I think the chance of getting one good item for cheap money is better. And I really never return with empty hands.
There is a fleamarket at Lenggries (that's almost in the mountains) which I visited last year and was very good. The fleamarkets at Bad Tölz are not bad also (one is in the former Junkerschule).
I prefer the mountain region rather than going north in the flatlands. The people in those regions kept more things, are more conservative, less buildings were destroyed, less was "liberated" by the occupation forces and so on.

Let's see what the next weekend will bring.

Thanks Robert! That is most interesting to say the least. I was able to go to two fleamarkets last year in Southern Germany and had a blast! I look forward to going back soon, and enjoy some more White sausage! Mike
