An easy EK question... or not?

Hi guys,

today I was thinking about the following:

Someone got the EKII 1914 with non-combatant ribbon in WWI.

In WWII he was in service again and qualified for an EKII 1939. Did he get a "Wiederholungsspange 1939" for his non-combatant ribbon??? And if yes, has someone ever seen a ribbon-/medal-bar with such a combination?

Theoretically that would have been the case... "logically."

Instead they would have received a KVK2X.

But it is an interesting hypothetical situation. I can certainly think of situations where it COULD have happened... but it does not seem to have ever actually occurred.


PS I would absolutely reject any medal bar or any ribbon bar with such a critter on it... I'd want DOCUMENTS, plural, photos in wear, etc.

I have never seen such a combination - and Rick is on the right, most of the non-combatants of WW1 got the KVK with swords.

I have only an example from 1870/71 and WW1 with this rare combination...

The difficult between 1870 and 1914 is the following:

In 1870 non-combatants who served in France got the EK2 for non-combatants and the KDM for combatants...

In WW1 most of the wearer of the EK 2 for non-combatants were civilian - Post, Telegraphie, Kriegsministerium, Marine-Baubeamte and some paymaster - most the military doctors got the EK 2 for combatants. So it is unlikely that they got the bar to the EK in WW2.

I 've found a candidate for the 1939 bar to the EK 2 1914 at non-combatatnt ribbon ....here you see him during WW1. I think, it's his silver wedding....
