The Princely Waldeck Merit Cross, or Fürstlich Waldecksches Verdienstkreuz, was, despite its name, an order, not simply a cross. It was the house order of the Principality of Waldeck-Pyrmont, with a 1914 population of 63,000 the second smallest state of the German Empire (only Schaumburg-Lippe was smaller).
