    Makers Mark KO

Now I have Imperial items that show the Mark KO, which was Konigliches Munzamt Abeteilung Orden (Royal Mint Orders Division in Stuttgart in the Then Kingdom of Wurttemberg. I have seen many medals with this mark. They either were the official mint that put them out or why so many of them aroung now. Does this lower the value of the piece There must be 100 of KO marked medals (IMPERIAL) aound or are they as easy mark to copy. Being Honorary member of Pancho Villa's Army in hiding in Mexico. I need you help on this, even other mark could be discused. I thought we going to have a section on Imperial marks on medals but it seems to be in a stalemate. Come on guys help this old Mexicain brave soldier.

    Hi Senior ED:
OK I'll bite-why are you in hiding in Mexico?
We discussed the KO mark a while back in imperial. In fact I think there is a very long thread on makers' marks about 18 months ago.
KO is by far the most common mark on 1914 EK2s and "common" for EK1s. As you said, this mark was used for "awarded" pieces and this has been the common understanding for over 30 years.
I got a KO marked EK2 directly form a widow in 1969 with the paperwork. It's parade mounted and the same as is worn in a photo of the man who won it (taken in 1920), so the supposition of the KO mark as an officially issued piece holds up to scrutiny.
I would love to see other KO marked pieces you have though.
There are a number of silver marks/makers marks book available. Alas, most, even those published in 1923/24 (in Munich) only go up to @1880.
Stogieman has been backtracking a number of marks via the Etui boxes and cross referencing where he can.
I have never seen an EK2 marked KO as a fake-but hey, what do i know? I once thought they never faked prinzen crosses nor brass ones.
Look up the old archived sections.
    Cheers,
    JeMc

In the future you will see why I'm hiding. I will get all of my marked KO's together one day and take some good pictures. I still have some problems with scanning and using my digital.
One question, if I delete pictures on my web space will they still be in the forum ? I do not want to delete pictures if they will not stay on the forum but my site is filling up and I'm slowly learning to do better pictures so need the room or a new computer.
Thanks again for the input. I have learnt more on this Forum the short while I've been here than I have in the last forty years

I DO WISH WE HAD SPELL CHECK SO PARDON SPELLING MISTAKES

        KO's

Jeff thanks for the suggestion. Looks like I'll be busy for the next week reading the archives. I love it. Better than reading a book.

You find a lot of cases for example for the Wilhelmskreuz and the Friedrichsorden of Württemberg with a label from the Royal Mint, Stuttgart.

              Pictures

Dez, I presume then most members leave them on. How come some pictures posted have just the site shown not the pictures ?Is it because the pictures came from a book and you may not be able to use them ?

Association members upload their pictures directly to the Wehrmacht awards server,
(I am sooooo way overdue for this)
Everyone else has to host their own and link them to the servers, if you find pictures that have vanished it is a good chance they were hosted on one of the free picture hosting sites, after a few months they vanish……never to return again.
