Great oldie. Those early ones were all handpainted with no decals. I have an early one also from a Train Batallion. They are also not as tall as the later regimentals from 1900 and on. Can get expensive trying to collect one from every different regiment such as infantry, artillery, railroad, pioneer, cavalry etc.

What a great stein, I have never seen that finial before and think it is very rare. Not the easiest dragoon regiment to find a stein for either because I have a sword to them and have been looking for a stein.
Once you start collecting Imperial German steins they are addictive and in many cases undervalued. Well worth getting into & real gems of history.

Very nice, I have not seen this finial before, It appears to be 'Germania' with her left hand on a sword, is the right arm broken off? as this hand should be holding up a crown. This scene of 'Germania' is not uncommon when pictured on early Regimental stein bodies, BUT not as a finial. Thanks for sharing.
