    cased medals and doc, officer?

I have attached pixs of a case that is rare unique. It has the Bavarian colors on the lid and contains three medals, EK2, BVM and Hindenburg Cross with doc. My question is could Ingenieur Karl Egen Garttner of Bischof, Ged. Konigsdorf been a officer? Enjoy the pixs.

No, as officer he should be awarded the Military Merit Order and not the cross (MVK). I suspect he was a young Gefreiter (maybe student) and got his Ing. later after the war.
