Silver in the frames of Ek1a and Ek2s?

    Hi all

Is there always silver in the frames or is it just some makers that uses it?

Or just some models, or what is the deal with it?

    Best Regards

      Hi!

Most of the Iron Crosses from 1914 frames are made of silver. Some were made from brass ore Tombak.

Most of the Iron Crosses of 1939 have a frame made of Neusilber/Nickelsilver silver plated. Only a few have frames made from solit Neusilber, brass ore Tombac.

      Regards
      Andreas

        Thanks for the info!

When it comes to copies are these made of silver as well? Or would one good way to detect copies be to do a silvertest of the frame?

So if the frame are silvercoulered on a Ek 1914 it should be silver, correct? If not are there a list of what makers used silver in the frames?

        Best Regards
        Henke
