    Commemerative Battle Crosses

What's the story with these enamal crosses that have the names of WW1 battles on them? I don't have a picture but I think there is about 5, such as Champagne, The Somme, Verdun etc. They have ribbons that seem to match the the enamel colors. I'm wondering when these were made, who made them etc. Just looking for some general information. Thanks, Steve

They are self awarded Weimar era self indulgences that were banned after 1934.

So they were private purchase pieces. I figured they were, but there was no real regulation as to who could have them? Is that why they werew banned?
