Stripped down EK2?

Here's an interesting use of the core of an EK2. The jump ring is nicely soldered to the top and the suspension ring is from another medal. The ribbon looks to be an original black and white WW1 that has been dyed black. The reverse "1813" side has some rust damage which makes me think that this started out as a standard award, became a relic, and then was repaired for a reason we can only guess at. I could be wrong about all this; maybe it was actually awarded like this??? Any opinions? Thanks for looking, Ausgang
