Hi Henke,

As near as I have ever been able to determine, minis were an extra optional purchase by the recipient. That is to say that in the case of Imperial German decorations, minis were not given along with the full size award; and as such had an unofficial status.

I believe that some countries do award minis and/or lapel rosettes along with the full size decorations; but despite their popularity during that era, Imperial Germany is not one of them.

Btw anyone now what maker is J.H.W. is it Wagner? Or Sy & Wagner?
