      That is not one I would even contemplate, personally.

      A Lauer should look like this (give or take the embellished pin)..

            Marshall,

            The EKI you posted looks right. Lauer is a tough maker to find. Very seldom seen. Another one for my 'want' list.

            That pin is very unusual. Perhaps a replaced pin?

              Hi Tony

              I believe the pin is merely a standard 'wide version' which has been decoratively altered (filed) at some point.

              Here's the standard wide pin as seen on Kaiser W's Godet EK1...

                  Lauer did make Ek1's with horizontal straight wire pins, and I believe there is one example pictured in "The Iron Time" (don't have it with me right now). However, the iron core details should be essentially the same as the one posted by Marshall in post #3 above. That means that the first one in this post is simply not correct. At best, it might be a later piece made by Lauer, but I wouldn't bet my money on it.
