    Prussian Fire Brigade Badge

    Hello!
Does anybody know anything about these badges?
The only reference I can find is for one from Danzig, which is on page 156 of Detlevs book(Orden Und Ehrenzeichen Deutschland 1871-1945).
If this is the real deal is it worth the £40 asking price?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Kind regards,
    Andy

                Hi Andy,

the 2nd pic is also I ting something like that but it did not replace No.1.
                The 1st is a Prussian Republic awards, 2nd one I think from a Feuerwehrverband, 3rd a REICHS-award.
Before 3rd Reich nearly every federal state had own awards PLUS some more from the different Feuerwehrverbände.
Later the award No3 was instituted and the others not longer awarded.

I´m not soo much expert to tell if it is genuine or not, but I think it is o.k.

                Best regards

                Daniel

That's what happens in a big house like this... I keep wandering down side corridors, and if something's not up top...

I'd say £40 is out of line. $40, maybe. There is not high demand for these, so this is one of those instances where "book price" can often be found for less "live" at a show. It looks fine to me. This is a 25 years service award like all the others. It was awarded 1926-33.

                    Here's my

Imperial "Ehrenzeichen fur Verdienste um das Feuerloschwesen".
Andy, yours looks much like mine so that's a plus. It's not highly sought-after and therefore prob'ly not well-faked (if faked at all), so there's another plus. *And* it's an award that goes to "working stiffs" not political appointees or Army lapdogs.
40 Pounds is a *little* steep, 40 Euros would be better. But it's a nice badge (I like mine a lot) so if you like it, go for it! You're not getting totally hosed, and these are not often found.
If you haven't fondled it yet be aware it's fairly small in stature: roughly 37mm by 32mm.

                    Thanks,
                    Eric Gaumann
