WW 1 German cigarette case ?

    WW 1 German cigarette case?

Is this the centre of a Imperial belt buckle, probably not very appropiate for the Forum but every one who knows anything about Imperial stuff is on here.

I got this today for 3 pounds, the metal is an alloy of some kind other than that ,what do you think?

    Kind regards,

    Marcus

(Sorry if this in the wrong place)

I'd say you got a bargain-- and useful too. Not to mention being just about the ONLY thing more "politically uncorrect" to collect than German militaria-- tobacciana (boo hiss).

Hard to tell if this neatly made item is German and wartime or postwar and souvenir for the battlefield tours trade of the 1920s.

Doesn't really matter, since it is neat!

One thing I'd like to know is what on earth these cigarette cases used for those elastic bands, since they remain flexible to this day--when so many other similar items have dried up and cracked to pieces? I use a plain old antique civilian calling card one myself for business cards-- just as flexible as when it was made.

            Marcus,
Very nice, but you stole it at that price. Here are some more for your interest:

              Thank you Tony

With what you and Rick have shown and said I think this must be 1920's and I'm just as happy with that.

I shall keep my eyes open for more!
