    Possible Godet 1914 EKII?

    Hi everyone,

I've been entertaining the idea of getting started into Imperial EK's ever since I bought this set from Detlev month ago. I think it's some sort of commemorative award for the German victory of WWI. 'In memory of Germany's greatest time'?
The ring is stamped with what appears to be a 'G', or something close. Can someone with knowledge in this field of collecting please identify the cross itself by it's characteristics, and possibly the maker's mark? Thanks for your help.

    Robert

Nice cross. You need to watch out because Imperial is very addictive. It starts with EKs and next thing you know you want all the German State EK equivilents. Then comes pretty enamel. Zink will never be the same. It never ends.....

I have the same maker cross, will shoot you a pic and post it as soon as I'm back in Germany with my Imperial Ek2 babies

good luck hunting! These might become a little harder to shoot than a rockchuck!

                  Don't worry Steve,

I'm going to be spending a lot of time studying and researching this Imperial family of EK's before I start approaching it seriously...that is if I can resist the termptation to buy when I see them.

Don, what do you mean by 'German State EK equivilents'? See, Steve, I know nothing yet.

                    Thank you Rainer,

Do you think it is a Godet, or no? I really can't make out the mark on the ring. The wildest guess I had was a 'G'.

The final score on the rockchucks: Robert: (92), Rockchucks: (0).

Robert, I will post a shot of my Godet EK2 tomorrow so you can have a look. If it's marked G that is Godet. They are nice examples, but not really hard to find in an EK2. As for German state equivilents, there are many various awards from the smaller German states that had thier own medals that were the equivelent of the Iron Crosses. Some are made in much smaller numbers. I have a couple and will post them tomorrow also. That's a nice set by the way.
