WWI German Tank Badge

Greetings,
Clem Kelly, one of Military Trader's older and very respected authors, wrote a small article on Kampfwagenabzeichen that appeared after WWI. I know that confirmed originals of these are nearly unknown, so I would welcome any comments on the example Clem has in his collection (and illustrated in the article).

Hi John,

The badge in the article is difficult to judge. The photo is not the best. The the reverse hardware looks a bit odd. The catch is (almost) reminiscant of a 60s Souval type.

Here is a badge by which to compare. But as the article accurately states, these badges were manufactured post war by more than one firm, so variations do exist.

VERY nice photos. It is too bad that Clem doesn't take better photos for his articles. He is a rare bird, however. He was a Merchant Marine right after WWII through Vietnam. He was picking up stuff all over the world. Many of you may remember his newsletter on Vietnam patches that he used to publish.

I tend to trust a lot of Clem's material but every once in awhile, as is the case with this badge, I sure like to get a few other opinions.
