please help to ID this award

    Hello!

What is this medal? Made in silver. Reads: "Fur Verdienst im Kriegervereins Wesen" (or Wefen).

I would be grateful for info such as:
    How old is it?
    is it rare?
what is its approximated value? (I don`t want to sell it. It just looks expensive and I`d like to know If that is really the case )

    Many Thanks for any input.

I would say it's an organization formed after WW1 for veterans, so probably the 20's.

The text means : For merit in the veterans organisations

On the other side you see a monument (tower). It is the Kyffhäuserdenkmal -

the Kyffhaeuser Monument on top of the mountain Kyffhäuser in Thuringia. It is 57 metres high with a bronce German Imperor William I on a horse.

The building was finished 1896 as symbol of all the united German veterans oganizations.

You often find pictures of this tower as a symbol of the German veterans organization after WWI.

Regarding value, this is a common medal that is not in great demand.

              Thanks guys!

A pity it is something common - it is very well made, looks great, but has nothing to do with direct battle and that is probably the main reason for it being unwanted

              Anyway, I want it

              Best Wishes,

              Matt

                Matt,

This medal is not as common as one might think. With an orignal ribbon, they are often worth more than an Iron Cross 2nd Class from the same period. You can learn more about them on these threads and see the proper ribbon and certificate. Steve

Well, sadly, mine is without the ribbon and certificate.
