Lost American Collector - little help?

    Good evening,

This afternoon I picked up a massive American grouping from a veteran here in town. He served during the war and after the war in Germany. One his souveniers was this cross. I'm afraid my knowledge is extremely limited, being an American collector. I was just curious as to exactly what is this is, and also what it is worth. Any help would be greatly appreciated, because I am way out of my element!

    Thanks again!

    Beau

This is a standard decent example (although missing ribbon ring and ribbon) WWI era German Iron Cross 2nd class. In this condition I would value it more or less around $50, but it might not be a quick sell with the missing ring...more so because these were usually maker marked and thus provide another collecting criteria for many.

Beau, it's an Iron Cross 2nd Class of World War 1 vintage.
