Could that be that he was serving in the Bavarian Army before the war and during the war in a Badener Rgt? (during the war the time spent in service counted double at least in Bavaria for being awarded of a Dienstauszeichnung). Furthermore, these two countries are quite close... It seems strange to me that is trying to sell a bar that it could sell less than take it apart and sell the medals one by one... For example the BMVK 1. Kl. mit Kr. u. X could be already sold at more than Eur 250.-.

On the other hand the ribbons are folded in the simpliest and more "fake-able" manner... but the bar itself where the ribbons and medals are placed and the heavy needle system seems to be time period. Difficult to see if it is authentic or not... I would definitely want to know more about it from the seller... Who knows; perhaps he has the provenience or some documents or info about the wearer. Only the documents could proove it right!

He was obviously a BadBaaavian.

I've thought about this medal-bar and decided: it IS possible! This guy could be in a bavarian unit as reservist (Bavarian Landwehr DA) and got there the MVK as Feldwebelleutnant. Later he had something to do with Baden and there he got the (Active) Long Service Decoration and the Verdienstkreuz des Zähringer Löwen. The ribbon for that cross is CORRECT! It could be awarded on the "war-ribbon" of the Militär-Karl-Friedrich Medaille for merits in war, but ONLY to Feldwebelleutnants!

It was sold for 992 Euros!!!!!!! Too much...

Hi Jens,

but what about the Bavarian Sicherheitsdienstauszeichnung?
I still have my greatest doubts.
- Bavarian Landwehr service
- 9 years active Baden military service
- and 20 years in the bavarian Gendarmerie???

.. forgot to say, should this guy not have a Bavarian jubilee medal? I dont know exactly if Gendarmerie / Landwehr guys also got it.
Anyway, has somebody the Baden award rolls published by Michael Autengruber? The VK of the Zähringer Löwe was ithink not more than 600 times awarded and a BAVARIAN with that should be traceable.
