    Rare Cased Kaiser Centenary Medal

Among the finds this past weekend at the Atlanta show was a cased Kaiser Wilhelm Centenary medal. The case is finer than many made for orders I have come across. Gold embossed lettering and fine silk and crushed velvet, recessed interior. The owner must have been very proud of his service: Or, was this the way Grand Pooh-bahs were given the award? Anyhow, good hunting.

        Marked?

Great piece and super rare with that type of case. Is the case marker marked?

Hi guys and thanks for the comments. There is no maker mark on the case. What do you chaps think: Was this some fellow who only qualified for this award and therefore had it cased? It is odd for such effort for the second most common Prussian award. Good hunting.

Below it is one on a plain black case. (Bought from Rick-stogieman some time ago).

I think the case with the inscription was for the high rank officers or nobility.

                Another Fancy-Cased one!

Here's a photo of the only other example I've seen of this very special case. The "plain" cased ones are scarce, but do turn up. Easy to recognize as there are no other awards the same diameter as the Centennial Medal.
I believe the fancy ones to be presentation pieces for high ranking officers & nobility.

Sorry about the size. (Shades of Little Red Riding Hood, eh, herr Lundstrom??)

                    And the final shot...

This piece is now in a private collection in the midwest.
