    1881 dated ammo pouch

    Is this pouch german??

    what rifle is it for,
    can anyone tell me what the markings represent

          To me, it looks like "R.Fuss.AR.N.8" - Rheinisches Fußartillerie Rgt.Nr.8. The pattern is the Patronentasche 1874, which was an infantry pouch that was latter pawned off to the artillery when the army got newer models.
