I just picked up this cased S&L PlM and thought I would add it to this thread. Notice the case is the same as the Ernst Junger PlM shown previously.

        plm

Hi i posted pictures of mine which look like a couple already posted which have the better detail to the eagles . i guess it would be a early made piece. it has the detail like on Otto Hersing one you show . The seller said it was a bring back from WWII vet but there still is no proof that is true or not.

          Hello all.
I really enjoyed reading this discussion. Very informative. My S&L style PLM has has a 'W' on the lower arm but it is not stamped or etched. It looks like it was
carved in to the metal when it was still soft. Any thoughts on what it might mean? It's obviously not a Wagner. The person I bought it from said it was made by Wilm. I contacted Wilm and they confirmed they made military PLMs until 1945.

            That's news to me.
While I don't follow the PLM discussions real close, I can't remember
ever hearing about a "Wilm" connection.

After I posted this, I found I still have the email from the Wilm firm. I described the marking (it is actually a '//W' ) but they did not confirm or deny that it is one of theirs. Just that they stopped making PLMs in 1945 while still in Berlin. They moved to Hamburg in 1950.

                Hi Dan,

Would you be able to post a picture of the "W" mark?

I will see about posting a photo of the mark, but it may take a bit of time as I.
have not done this before. (Now where is my wifes digital camera...)

When you get a pic, use "Photobucket" for posting--works great!
