Demag Fighting Knife

Is the scabbard difficult to find.

It looks like a very fine example. The scabbards do not have to be specific to this knife/bayonet. I think you can use just about any German trench knife scabbard. Regardless, these knives are not rare by any means and I think you could find a lessor quality example with a scabbard/sheath and just switch it to your knife.

Weren't these also called "crank handle bayonets" looks like it can be fitted to the rifle on the bayonet lug?

yes, these knifes/bayonets made by Deutsche Machinen Fabrik AG could fit onto the rifle.

i ve just been given one of these , it has the same demag stamp but on the other side it says "geset2lich geschutzt anyone have any idea what this means? cheers Terry

"Gesetzlich geschützt" I would translate with "protected legally/ by law".

D.R.G.M = Deutsches Reichsgebrauchsmuster - which also means that this special knife/bayonet is protected by copyright. It was not allowed to copy it.
