I am not at all comfortable with this cross. There are many many
fake Prinzens out there that show the same charactoristics as this
one. First thing that strikes me is the stepped core. Stepped
cores are not common at all in 1914 crosses. Next is the small
crown. this particular style of crown has been seen on 1914,
        1870, 1813 fake prinzens.

Here is a link to some discussion about this style of cross.

I have photos of crosses purporting to be prinzen pieces from 1813, 1870, 1914 (and now even a 1939 ) that have frames identical to the one you have posted.

The markings range from Godet, Wagner, 'PV', crown and moon, Meybauer etc...

I have tried to highlight it in the threads Greg posted, but there is absolutely no chance that this is an original Prinzen.

              Hi Marshall,
thanks for you additional opinion. I will return this cross. If you have not much knowledge about Prinzen EKs i think this is a dangerous fake.

                Hi,

I remember seeing this sales thread and thought the cross was suspect. I went back with the intention of discussing it but it had already been sold and the pics removed (very quickly).

Here's a genuine one for comparison.

                Regards
                Mike

That is a beautiful cross Mike. I have a soft spot for all things Meybauer and this is top of the line. Steve

The crown, the core and even the beading are the same as my cross, the only difference is the date. Mine is from 1870, yours is from 1914 but we both know they were manufactured many, many years later. I hope Biro doesn't mind I borrowed this from an earlier post of his. Mine is the piece of junk on the red material. I hope you get your money back, I didn't and still have this little gem

                          Hey Biro,
Where did you see the prinzen 1939? Are you talking about this one?

                            Shame!!

I think it is appalling that fakes like this are sold on the Estand..

Are the persons responsible admonished for this??

I would certainly be going after my money. I hope your's is refunded.

                              Hello,

Meybauer has used two different cores for his Prinzen crosses.
Unfortunately does not match up the depicted first cross to these two cores.
Further is the quality of the work absolutly crab.

All in all is this cross a fake.

                              Best Franki
