Shame on me... I have never been in Neuschwanstein, but I'm planning a visit!!! It is a wonderful castle; Ludwig II. was really an artist, if you look at his castles AND at the medals he instituted, like the Bavarian MVO. Wasn't the St. Michaels Orden also instituted by him?

      Hi,

As King he was automatically the Grand Master of the Bavarian Orders and was entitled to wear all of them in their highest grade. Normally he shows with a Hubertus Grand Cross, George Grand Cross (or just the stars) and had Order of Michael and Order of the Crown on the medal bar.

Ludwig himself instituted the Ludwig Order (nothing more that a rare long service award) AND the Military Merit Order.

What You mean with Austrian style ribbon is just the earlier Bavarian style it is more like a pentagon.

      Best regards

      Daniel

Hi Christian, I do not at all consider him as a fool or idiot as some ignorant guys are doing.
He was a tragic figure in his time and simply he was "different than the others".

              Beste Grüße
