    Look What's In The Box!

Seller's scans, just came from today's Stogie-Rick visit to live at my house:

How could I possibly resist a tiny little box... for a ribbon bar?!

Probably a Reserve or Landwehr doctor. Steel Godet tag, with their typical light gray backing. Note heavy STRUCK brass catch and hinge of pin, their usual construction for, I would guess, actual wartime work, maybe early 1920s.

I have never seen ribbon bars in these little boxes before, are they extremely rare?

              Ah, thank you!

Question similar to Mr. Dez Hs which is is that an original box that the bar came in?

                I sure hope so!!!!

It is a perfect fit and presumably what a "high class" place like Godet's would put one in, rather than a little paper bag for the customer to carry it away in... or be mailed to him. I'm old enough to remember when hats (men's and women's) came in cardboard boxes and not off hooks in a store, so the packaging would not be excessive for the period.

I've certainly never seen another box for a ribbon bar before and don't expect to ever again, which is why it is now residing at the North American Headquarters of Hopeless Ribbon Bars Addicts, Inc.

                    Nice thing!

                    These boxes are really rare!
(and the bar is also nice)

                    Best regards

Here are a couple more of the box itself. I suppose it could belong to something else... but the fit is perfect, and the minty box has kept the ribbon bar minty fresh too

If only it had said "Godet" inside the lid, the way cardboard boxes for medal bars are often found with maker info!
