General Shoulder Boards Green Underlay (?)

Hoping for an ID on these. Picked em up the other day. They are slip ons & they are freaking BIG at almost 3" wide by 6" long & weighing 8.2 ounces on a postal scale! My question is what would the green underlay be indicitive of? A German state like Bavaria or an organization like 'forestry'?

The photo below shows how big these are compared to uniform boards (3rd Reich Police General) & Third Reich Great Coat Boards (Luftwaffe GenLt)

Boards of this size were typically worn before the turn of the century. After that, you would only see them on the old uniforms of retired general officers. The green backing would indicate a former association with a regiment or (Jäger) battalion that had a green underlay.

Is there any evidence of there having once been any metal devices on the boards?

Chip, Thanx for the info. There do appear to be some previous holes in the boards but not all the way through.

Any idea who had green underlay in the 1800s?
