    Iron Cross 2nd class 1870, original??

    Hello,
    here are some pics of an EK 2 from 1870. What is your opinion? Real or fake? If real, is it from 1871, or a later one about 1900 ? Thank you for all answers!

    The pictures are very small - but even from this distance I suspect you will find that the '9th bead' on the crown will be 'larger' and 'brighter' than the rest.... in which case, you could read this thread...

    1870 EK2 variant?

    or do a search for '9th bead'.

        I think Biro is right on with his evaluation. However to be positive
        we would need to see larger, clear pictures of the front of the cross.

        Here is an example of what to look for. The oversized 9th bead on the
        crown. Every 9th bead fake also has the over/under style "8" with
        the tear drop shape Os.

          Ive never heard about a oversized 9th bead on the
          crown! Can you make a arrow to the part of the foto?

              I'm not sure I would agree with you on that... but then you have it in your hands.

              The reverse date alone is enough for me to ID it...
