With squiggles, the DATE is absolutely crucial.

The recipient was Ersatz Reservist Johann Paul Lorra (that's what it says, "Lorra"!) of 9th Company, Life Grenadier Regiment "King Friedrich Wilhelm III" (1st Brandenburg) No. 8.

The Oberstleutnant and CO was von Somethingendingin"ski."

no wonder the signature is difficult to make out

Oberstleutnant Wilhelm von Gluszewski (later Graf von Kwilecki), commander of Leib-Grenadier-Regiment König Friedrich Wilhelm III. (1. Brandenburgisches) Nr. 8 from 1st June 1916 until the regiment's disbandment. Born 21 June 1867 died 30 May 1954.

It gets even worse... until about 1908, he was a mere commoner by name of...

Gluszczewski.

he had been in Baden Inf Rgt 142, without picking up the standard Order of the Zähringen Lion--

probably because they couldn't spell his name for the recommendation!!!

and had been an instructor at the NCO School, Potsdam.

He was in the Guard Jäger Battalion when the war started, holding the Red Eagle Order 4th Class, XXV, and 1897.

I find a Prussian Hohenzollern House Order 3X gazetted to him 24.3.17

Generalmajpr Graf von Gluszewski-Kwilecki

Awarded the Pour le mérite on the 24th of November 1917 for his regiment's performance during 12th Isonzo (Caporetto). The regiment captured the Italian positions on Monte Hum and over 3500 prisoners including two brigade commanders. Promoted char. Oberst on the 30th of November 1920 and char. Generalmajor on the 27th of August 1939. The general commanded the Garde-Reserve-Jäger-Bataillon from the 2nd of August 1914 until assuming command of LGR. 8 on the 1st of June 1916.

In July 1917, Oberstleutnant von Gluszewski was ill and temporarily replaced with Major Witte (until 20.07.1917) as Commander of the LGR 8.
