At a small militaria show this weekend I found this silver Mecklenburg-Strelitz 21 years service time cross , issued 1869 to 1913 .

...and the 21 years on the backside .Was the ribbon for this medal just a blue service time ribbon or did it also have a device on it to show the 21 years ??

        Hi DougO,

That is a beautiful piece, congratulations. The cypher on the front is a ā€œGā€ for George, Grand Duke of Mecklenburg-Strelitz who founded this series of decorations on 1 July 1846. There was a revision on 2 March 1869 by Grand Duke Friedrich Wilhelm. It appears that of the silver decorations, like yours, 869 were awarded.

The ribbon is a typical Mecklenburg theme - a purple (I would call it) center flanked by blue and then yellow side stripes.

I hope that this information is helpful, best wishes,
