Just a very quick reaction: the hinge on the pin is totally incorrect, typography is only close, "VERDIENSTUMS" should be one word (no space before UMS), top of the "I" and E" in "Verdienst" should not run into the frame, etc.

'Verdienst ums Vaterland' is correct, but I'm not a German, so they should correct me if I'm wrong... It's short for 'Verdienst um das Vaterland'.

Sorry if I was unclear. I wasn't talking about the grammar but the presentation. On original awards it appears as "VERDIENSTUMS" (without a space).
