    EKI screwback

I thought this one would go higher. Did I miss something wrong with it?

Imo it's a fake. The screwback is imo definitely wrong, and as it matches the rest of the badge ("silver" content stamping and patina) and the core details look like the muffin crown, I personally would not pay $10 for it.

That doesn't look like the muffin crown to me unless they have improved it.

Don is right, This is NOT the muffin crown fake. This is one of the
Latvian fakes. This one can be found in pin back and screw back and
in 1813, 1870 and 1914 versions. Check this out------

          Greg, Don,

Yes, you are right re the muffin. I saw Don's comment, went and found the fake I was tinking of (called the Latvian, not the muffin) and came back here to correct - too late Greg beat me too it! We need one of those GCA "smack-botty" smilies here!!

The fact remains, the 1914 screwback is a fake, and on this type the screwdisk (with the disecting line as per TR screwback EKs and that flat outer flange) is the biggest giveaway.

I am always amazed at the pathetic steel-scratched appearance of these '900' marked 'silver' pieces coming out of Latvia and Poland. The metal material alone screams fake. You would think that if they were going to fake these awards with low-grade metals, they would fake late-war low-grade metal pieces. But then eBay provides the steady suppply of well-meaning and unwitting buyers. Steve

I would agree with the other comments posted in this thread, I don't like this piece at all.

It's an insult to genuine silver marked pieces it is trying to copy
