I'm new here. My grandmother found this object while doing some cleaning yesterday. I went to check what I suspected it was, and found that it was an Iron Cross, with 1914 on the obverse bottom. I suspect it is just a designed medal based off of an Iron Cross, and not one really.
Are Iron Crosses solely metallic (being iron), and do they always have black interiors?
This one looks to have been black, perhaps, in the past, but it is quite silver now, and it isn't metallic.
I'm new to the board, thanks for all your help.
