    Freiwilligen-Regiment Reinhard Ärmelabzeichen

What do you think about this badge?
It looks good to me, very similar to one posted in a previous thread, but I'd prefer to have opinions before buying it.

    Thank you
    ciao
    Mario

Here's the obverse of mine for a same thread comparison.

Reverse. It's hollow stamped with holes to sew onto the sleeve

Can't say that I'm crazy about either previous example. I've upgraded mine a couple of times over the years and the example shown below has been the best I could do. These had some oddball composition or coating that left them pretty corroded after all these decades (that's not white paint, it's white verdigris).

You'll note that these are different strikes (easiest to see in the foot of the "R"). Now it's possible that a couple of these are the later 1930s version (used by the Stahlhelm as a tradition badge for vets in Reinhard's LV), but I'm always suspicious of any pieces that don't show distinct aging, and have a (perhaps unreasonable) prejudice against pieces with sewing holes pierced close to the outer edge (a frequent flaw in the rash of repros of the last decade).

this is the recruiting ad of the Brigade Reinardt which was placed in newspapers and weekly magazines.
The foot of the "R" looks like to ones of the first two examples but I don't know if this con be a useful comparison.

VK-- is yours "flat"? Mine does NOT actually have the holes too close to the edge-- it is a "low 3-D" badge sort of like a wound badge and the holes are actually on the side rather than ready to split the rim.

It's some sort of nonmagnetic metal with what I'd call a Lacquer wash sort of finish. Mine's just not icky.

What about the dots on either side of the year? Rick

Not flat, hollowback (probably 3-4 mm deep). No dots on the date, though they appear on the stickpin shown below, so . . . ? Note strike on the back of the date, which is angular and doesn't match the front , a sign of a the decidedly male/female die pair.

The stickpin has black enamel, which I believe substantiates the black background as being the proper presentation. The sleeve emblems do tend to loose the paint (I believe my example has been touched up in the center) which means you can run across ones that look pretty much all metal.
