Kind of odd 1914 EK 2

This just came in a collection we may be buying. a quick look it appears to be a WW1 Ek2, but looking closer, the design is different, and it is one peice made of bronze (color in pics os off a bit) with painted center. NIce ring & ribbon with odd attachment bar at the top. Has anyone seen anytihnn like this? I don't think its a "fake" but rather a fob or somthing. Just odd its the same size..

    what are your thoughts?

Jerry, I know we've discussed these in the Imperial section. Try posting it there.

From what I've seen there was a decent amount of items centered around the Iron cross of 1914. They seem to be patriotic items like bracelets, tea cups, ashtrays and many diffrent miniture crosses etc. This may be along those lines. It may be anothe patriotic symbol of the Iron Cross. I don't think it's an actual version however. What do others think?

These crosses were supposedly made in France as a propaganda piece.
the crown on the front of the cross is the Frech "Napoleonic" crown and
the oak leaves are way undersized as a slam against the symbols of
Germany. Page 168 of the Iron Time discusses it a little bit.

Even though it is not an awarded EK it is still a nice piece to
            have in your collection.

                Odd EK

Hi Guys, I too, have one of these examples ,exactly the same as the one shown but with a more Austrian shaped/style crown front and back. Just for the records..... Ferg1.

                  Jerry,

Bring it to the Illinois show in January.

I'll bring some others and we can have a show and tell.
