    A General - who is he ?

    Got this photo today:

He has the German Cross, well.
But what about his two neck decorations ?

And what stars and crosses are on his breast ?

Possible identification of that General ?

    Thanks in advance.
    Robert

    Awooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!

Ho ho! Will copy this one over to Photos, and Individual Research for the Third Reich guys.

He was a Württemberger-- 2nd ribbon on the ribbon bar is their Military Merit Order.

Commander crosses are both Rumanian-- Order of the Crown X and Star of Rumania X. I suspect the star X goes with one of those. The ribbon from his buttonhole under the East Medal appears to be the Rumanian Order of Michael the Brave. The white pinback cross is a Bulgarian Military Merit Order 3rd Class 1st Division, probably 1941 issue.

This guy had an AMAZING array of Balkans' Allies awards-- if not killed, surely must be a Knight's Cross winner. Rick (will see if I turn up a Reichsheer match)

          Gustav Boehringer,

          Robert,

methinks it is Generalmajor Gustav Boehringer, the then Pionierführer of the 11th Army. An earlier portrait of Herr Boehringer:

            Bingo!!!!!

            Glenn does it AGAIN!

Thought that next to last ribbon was probably a Hungarian WWI Commemorative Medal, from the Bulgarian WWICM in last place, but "now" I see that it is indeed the WW1 Bulgarian MMO-Knight X with Crown Boehringer won.

Born 7 July 1892 In Strassburg, Alsace, he died 20 February 1974 in Konstanz.

            Generalmajor 1.32.42, Generalleutnant 1.1.44:

German Cross in SILVER (30.9.42), as well as Ritterkreuz of the War Merit Cross X (6.10.44--apparently without ever holding the KVks 1st or 2nd Xs)

Most of his "hardware" in this 1942/43 photo earned as senior Pioneer Officer of heeresgruppe Süd.

Thanks a lot. Superb and fast information, You guys are great.

I have read somewhere that there were about 600 generals in the german army that time. I have probably about 80 - 100 photos of generals. Still a long way to go, but not impossible.
Your help and knowledge is very much appreciated.

              Robert
